Jamie was born in 1976 in the United States. Never being particularly athletic, he was always very focused on his career in investment management. In 2006 he was introduced to Jiu-Jitsu at the Gracie Academy in Torrence, California. After just one class, he observed how the “little guy” with Jiu-Jitsu could defend themselves against bigger opponents, and Jamie became fascinated with the Jiu-Jitsu lifestyle.

In September 2006 Jamie competed in his first submission-only tournament, winning his weight division. However, career would cause him to start commuting between Los Angeles, NYC, and Shanghai. With this new found passion for Jiu-Jitsu, Jamie found places to train whenever he was traveling: 5-Star martial arts (Shawn Williams) in Los Angeles, Renzo Gracie Academy in NYC, and SHBJJ in Shanghai. The myriad of academies has allowed Jamie to develop a deep and technical style of Jiu-Jitsu, which he continues to bring to the mats every day.
